Due to increasing climate changes that more frequently lead to drought periods, agricultural producers in Tunisia are forced to turn to the use of old varieties of wheat, believing that they are more adapted to such extreme weather conditions.

Many farmers in the country prefer to grow an old Tunisian variety of wheat that has the ability to yield multiple harvests in one season.

In this way, they seek to avoid dependence on abrupt climatic changes and ensure the cultivation of grain even in unfavorable years.

Nevertheless, agricultural experts in Tunisia are skeptical about the ability of old wheat varieties to protect farmers from climate changes and note that modern wheat varieties provide much higher yields. However, they also acknowledge that old varieties may be more effective "in certain regions or under certain conditions."
