In August of the current year, wheat exports reached a record high of 5.6 million tons, despite fierce competition from Eastern European wheat, export restrictions in the domestic market, and import bans in Kazakhstan. These figures exceed the previous record for the same month, set in the previous season at 5.4 million tons, according to the analytical center "Rusagrotrans." Preliminary estimates by the same analysts indicated exports in the last month of summer at 5.2 million tons. In the first two months of the 2024/25 season, wheat exports reached 9.4 million tons, comparable to July-August of the previous year when 9.6 million tons of wheat were shipped abroad. It is predicted that in September, shipments will amount to 5.3 million tons, compared to 5.5 million tons in September of the previous year.

The largest buyer of Russian wheat in the first two months of the season was Egypt, where about 1.4 million tons of wheat were delivered (1.3 million tons in the same period the previous year). Bangladesh and Turkey share the second place in terms of purchases, each country buying 0.68 million tons (0.65 million tons in July-August 2023). They are followed by Algeria with a purchase volume of 0.49 million tons (compared to 0.8 million tons the previous year) and Israel with a purchase volume of 0.47 million tons (0.55 million tons in the previous year). Analysts at "Rusagrotrans" also noted high levels of deliveries to Vietnam, where almost 246 thousand tons of wheat were delivered in the first two months of the season, exceeding the total shipments of the entire previous season (198 thousand tons).

The cost of wheat with a protein content of 12.5% in deep-water ports by road transport increased by 450 rubles to 16.3-16.4 thousand rubles per ton without VAT (CPT Novorossiysk). However, on shallow-water areas, prices decreased by 200 rubles to 14.3 thousand rubles per ton. Last year, the prices were 16,050 rubles per ton and 13,500 rubles per ton, respectively, as noted by analysts at "Rusagrotrans." The price for delivery by rail to Novorossiysk is 17-17.2 thousand rubles per ton, which is 150 rubles per ton lower than the previous week.

Prices for 4th grade wheat in the south remained at 14 thousand rubles per ton without VAT (EXW elevator), in the central part of the country, they ranged from 13.7 to 13.9 thousand rubles per ton, and in the Volga region, they decreased by 100 rubles to 12.5-14 thousand rubles per ton. "The domestic wheat market maintains the level of the previous week with an increase in supply, and there remains a high level of demand from processors in Central Russia," note the analysts at "Rusagrotrans." In Siberian regions, purchase prices remain at 10-10.5 thousand rubles per ton, however, wheat supply in the market is low as mass harvesting has not started due to rains which negatively impact the quality of wheat and increase losses. This especially applies to the Altai, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, and Krasnoyarsk regions.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions hindering the harvesting campaign, the government of the Novosibirsk region decided to introduce a state of emergency in the region starting from September 10th. In August and September, some areas of the region experienced soil overmoistening. This has a negative impact not only on the harvesting period but also on the quality and quantity of the crop. Earlier, due to soil overmoistening from heavy rains, a state of emergency was declared in the Tomsk region. Crops on an area of over 3.5 thousand hectares were affected in the region, and a decrease in the quality indicators of agricultural crops is also noted.
