Kazakhstan will be able to export up to 700 thousand tons of wheat to Iran without paying duty. Also, under the same conditions, Kazakhstan will be able to export 690 thousand tons of barley. This became possible thanks to the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the EAEU countries and Iran.
For wheat, Iran usually charges a 10% duty, but now Kazakhstan will be able to supply up to 700 thousand tons duty-free. If the volume exceeds 700 thousand tons, a 10% duty will be charged.
For barley, Iran typically charges a 5% tariff and provides a tariff quota of 1.5 million tons, of which 690 thousand tons are destined for Kazakhstan. For other countries, Iran imposes a 10% tariff on wheat and 5% on barley. Currently, Kazakhstan exports about 500 thousand tons of wheat and the same amount of barley to Iran.
