During the first half of this year, the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) noted a significant increase in the export volumes of meat, dairy products, and potatoes. According to the information systems "VetIS" and "Argus-Fito," Russian producers have increased deliveries of both livestock and plant-based products to the international market. In particular, the export of poultry meat and products reached 172.4 thousand tons, pork - 92.1 thousand tons, by-products of cattle and pigs - 29.1 thousand tons, processed meat products - 41.5 thousand tons, and beef - over 19 thousand tons.

An increase in the exports of dairy products by 1.2 times was also recorded, reaching 92 thousand tons, while milk, dry, and condensed cream increased by 1.3 times to 15.2 thousand tons. There is a growth in the exports of non-condensed cream and cheese. The export of fish and seafood amounted to 934.5 thousand tons, and live animals - 174.1 thousand tons.

Exports of vegetables and tuber crops grew by 1.3 times, reaching 288.7 thousand tons. The main buyers were Kazakhstan (165.9 thousand tons), Belarus (46.5 thousand tons), and Azerbaijan (31.6 thousand tons). In particular, potato sales abroad increased by 1.5 times to 197.8 thousand tons. A total of 48.4 thousand tons of onions and garlic, 14.2 thousand tons of root vegetables (carrots, turnips, beets, celery, radishes), and 10.3 thousand tons of cucumbers were shipped. In the first half of 2024, 6.4 thousand tons of fruits and nuts were exported, with deliveries of seed crops (apples, pears, quinces) increasing by 2.1 times to 3.6 thousand tons.

Anton Trenin, an expert at the corporate ratings group of AKRA, previously forecasted that the volume of agricultural products exports from Russia could exceed $45 billion in 2024. This became possible thanks to the successful results of the first half of the year when the export volume increased by 16%, surpassing 50 million tons. However, according to the Federal Customs Service, from January to May of this year, Russia exported agricultural raw materials (excluding textiles) and foodstuffs worth $17.7 billion, which is 6.4% less than in the same period last year ($18.9 billion).

In 2023, Russia exported 103 million tons of agricultural products worth $43.5 billion, which were delivered to more than 160 countries worldwide. According to the Ministry of Agriculture's forecast, this year the export volume may reach around $45 billion. As part of the national development goals by 2030, the plan is to increase agricultural production by 25% and exports by one and a half times relative to 2021. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that sanctions did not hinder the promotion of Russian agricultural raw materials and food internationally. He also highlighted that Russia holds leading positions in the world in the export of barley, grain crops, sunflower and rapeseed oils, as well as wheat.
