Refinitiv Commodities Research analysts have lowered their forecast for soft wheat production in the EU in 2024/25 MY to 125.6 million tons, which is more than 2 million tons lower than last season.
The downward adjustment is due to lower-than-expected wheat planting area in France, due to planting delays in the country due to excessive rainfall.
At the same time, warming is forecast for almost all of Europe in the short term with above-normal temperatures and sufficient precipitation (snow), which is expected to be favorable for the development of winter crops.
