According to the latest USDA experts' analysis, data on the state of plantings in the USA as of May 26th has been summarized. These data show that the share of planted areas in good or excellent condition has decreased to 48% over the last week, which is a 1% deviation downwards. However, it is worth noting that the current indicator is still significantly better than last year, when the condition of planted areas as of May 26th was at 34%. At the same time, 33% of the areas were in satisfactory condition, remaining stable compared to the previous week, while last year at the same date the condition was at 31%. The conditions worsened for 19% of the planted areas, which were in poor or very poor condition; last week this figure was at 18%, and last year it was 35%.
As for the spring wheat plantings, by May 26th, 88% of the planned areas had been seeded, indicating an increase compared to last year, when by the same time only 79% were planted, and the 5-year average was 81%.
The planting pace of corn in the USA is slightly lower than last year - currently, 83% of the areas have been seeded, while by the same date last year, 89% had already been planted. However, the average for the last years stands at 82%, indicating that the overall trend remains stable.
The soybean planting rates have also slightly declined compared to last year - currently, 68% of the areas have been seeded, against 78% in 2023. Over the last 5 years, the average has been 63%.
