Brazil's export ports are under pressure from record volumes of soybeans, corn and sugar amid increasing rainfall. Waits to load ships are increasing, leading to additional costs, Nasdaq said.
Brazilian ports faced high volumes, but rain and a number of other factors added to the pressure. The chief trader at one of the world's largest coffee export companies reported problems with container availability that slowed exports in September.
There has been an 86% increase in the use of sugar containers. The waiting time for loading at the sugar terminal in the port of Santos has increased to 33 days. Some sugar shipments from Brazil have been delayed, and the number of ships waiting to load has increased by 40% to 4.2 million tonnes.
