In January-November 2023, Azerbaijan imported 1.095 million tons of wheat, which is 6.2% lower than in the same period a year earlier. This was reported by the Interfax-Azerbaijan agency with reference to data from the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
At the same time, in monetary terms, the volume of grain purchases during this period decreased more significantly - by 28.8%, to $283.38 million. Thus, the average import price for the first eleven months of last year amounted to $258.79 per ton of wheat, which is noticeable is lower than last year’s average ($337.6 per ton).
It is also reported that purchases of vegetable oil in January-November year-on-year increased by 7% in quantitative terms (to 114.03 thousand tons), but decreased by 27.3% in monetary terms (to $132.64 million).
Oil exports from Azerbaijan for the first eleven months of the year are estimated at 5 thousand tons (a decrease of 28.7%) worth $8.03 million (a decrease of 39.8%), sugar - 30.4 thousand tons (a decrease of 30 .5%) for the amount of $22.7 million (a decrease of 26.5%).
