The Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates that the country exported 418,000 tons of feed barley and 47,800 tons of malting barley, as well as 395,300 tons of sorghum in June, Grain Central reports.
At the same time, the shipment volumes of fodder barley were 22% lower than in May and became the lowest since January this year. At the same time, 184 thousand tons were shipped to Saudi Arabia, 155 thousand tons to Japan and 32.5 thousand tons to Thailand.
The main volumes of malting barley were exported to Mexico (33 thousand tons), South Korea (9 thousand tons), Singapore (2.5 thousand tons).
It is noted that the export of sorghum in June also decreased - by 10% per month. The main volumes of grain were shipped to China (275.4 thousand tons; 70% of total exports), as well as to Kenya (60 thousand tons) and Sudan (30 thousand tons).
Separately, it should be noted that after China canceled import duties on Australian barley, market operators record an active increase in Chinese importers' demand for grain, both for immediate shipment and during the new harvest. According to preliminary estimates, at least 250 thousand tons of barley have already been sold in bulk.
The total volume of exports of fodder barley from Australia in the current season (October-June) reached 5.04 million tons, of which most were shipped to Saudi Arabia (1.8 million tons).
