Farmers in Tatarstan have started their spring work in the fields: fertilizing and harrowing are in full swing.

Spring work has begun in Tatarstan: fertilizing winter crops and perennial grasses on more than 877 thousand hectares, harrowing in 6 districts. Precipitation exceeded the norm by 70%, the temperature has risen, and plant growth has started. It is important to sow spring crops on time, otherwise crop yields decrease.

Last week, spring field work began in the republic.

At the moment, farmers from 29 municipal districts are actively working in the fields: they are applying mineral fertilizers to winter crops and perennial grasses, and have also started harrowing.

The area of winter crops requiring fertilization in the republic is over 527 thousand hectares, and perennial grasses - 350 thousand hectares. Currently, winter crops have already been fertilized on an area of 19 thousand hectares, and perennial grasses - on almost 27 thousand hectares.

Harrowing has been started in six districts of Tatarstan in selective areas. At the moment, these districts are Aktanyshsky, Apastovsky, Buinsky, Vysokogorsky, Laishevsky, and Yutazinsky.

According to data from the Hydrometeorological Service of the republic, 276 mm of precipitation fell from November to March of this year, which is 170% of the norm.

The air temperature has become positive, leading to rapid snow melting in the fields and the beginning of plant growth.

Currently, the main task is to carry out spring sowing in a shortened period of time and with high quality. Missing the optimal sowing dates for spring crops daily reduces their potential yield by 2-3 centners.
