In the Tikhoretsky district of the Krasnodar Territory, one of the largest producers of oilseeds is the enterprise of Nikolai Konstantinovich Lotsmanov. This year, a production experiment was laid on its fields to compare two varieties of oilseed flax bred by VNIIMK: wintering SNEGUROK and spring VNIIMK 620. The purpose of the test is to determine which of the two varieties will show the highest yield: a novelty of SNEGUROK breeding or a time-tested and long-loved variety by farmers VNIIMK 620.
Domestic varieties were not chosen by chance. According to agronomist-seed grower Vladimir Sergeevich Volkov, the farm trusts Russian selection, because they know that varieties and hybrids of oilseeds created in Russia are adapted to the climatic conditions of the regions.
Satisfied with the first results of the experiment on the farm. On an area of 40 hectares, the difference between the varieties is clearly visible: while SNEGURKA has formed bolls and begins to ripen, VNIIMK 620 is still in the active phase of flowering.
– It is a pleasure to cooperate with VNIIMK. Everything is clear: agronomists and specialists arrived and discussed the scheme of how best to do it. There were no problems during cultivation. The year was wet. The shoots were very good. In the spring, we decided to feed the SNOW MAIDEN. Added 100 kg of ammonium nitrate, it gave the effect. Plant density is good. By harvest, I think everything will be fine, I think we will get 18 q/ha here,” Vladimir Sergeevich said.
One of the authors of the SNOWGUROK variety, head of the oil flax breeding laboratory, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences Larisa Grigoryevna Ryabenko drew attention to the resistance of plants that survived the bad weather:
- SNOW MAIDEN looks good in production crops, despite the wind, rain and hail. SNOWGAROK endured all the bad weather, all the hardships wonderfully.
