Last week, American farmers significantly accelerated the pace of soybean harvesting, reports the Grain On-Line agency. In a week, they threshed 19% of the area under this crop, which is more than market participants expected.
By October 15, 62% of the area had been harvested from soybeans (60% as of the same date last year and 52% on average over the past five years), according to a report from the National Agricultural Statistical Service of the US Department of Agriculture (NASS USDA).
According to forecasts from the US Department of Agriculture, this season the gross soybean harvest will decrease to 111.7 million tons, by 4% compared to last season and by 2% compared to the five-year average.
Corn harvesting by October 15 was completed on 45% (43% and 42%) of the area.
68% (67% and 68%) of the plan were sown with winter wheat. Shoots appeared on 39% (36% and 43%) of the areas.
