Ukraine has started registering vessels wishing to use the "humanitarian corridor", the Interfax-Ukraine news agency reports.
According to the publication, the corridor would free cargo ships that have been trapped in Ukrainian ports since the beginning of the conflict and would be a test of a virtual blockade since Moscow pulled out of a deal last month allowing Kiev to export grain.
Representative of the Ukrainian Navy Dmitry Pletenchuk claimed that the registration is now open and the coordinator is already working. Everything will take place under the supervision of the Ukrainian military.
Russia did not indicate whether it would abide by the shipping lane, and shipping and insurance sources have expressed concerns about security once the grain deal is completed.
