The Russian market for grain and forage harvesters from January to October 2023 grew by 12.7% compared to the same period in 2022, according to a press release from the Russian Association of Manufacturers of Specialized Equipment Rosspetsmash.
“In total, 5,084 units of such equipment were supplied to the Russian market during the specified period,” the report notes.
Compared to the same period in 2022, the domestic market for agricultural tractors grew by 11.5% and amounted to 31.4 thousand units, as calculated by Rosspetsmash. As the association clarified, we are talking about both domestic and imported tractors.
According to the association, one of the main problems for the process of modernization of the agro-industrial complex (AIC) remains the decrease in the profitability of farmers. Due to low grain prices, many farmers have suspended the purchase of agricultural equipment, which has led to a reduction in shipments and production of agricultural equipment in Russia in many key segments, the report said.
As Rosstat previously reported, in October 2023, the production of grain harvesters decreased significantly - to 127 units, which is 67.3% less year-on-year and 53% less than in September. Nevertheless, in January-October the dynamics were positive: 4.7 thousand cars rolled off the production line (+28.2% compared to 2022).
The production of agricultural tractors in October 2023 amounted to 759 units, a year-on-year decrease of 32.8%, and compared to September 2023 - 6.8%. In just 10 months of 2023, Russian factories produced 7.8 thousand tractors - 9.3% less than during the same period in 2022.
