Sunflower oil production in Kazakhstan exceeds the needs of the domestic market by 31%. In total, 54 enterprises operate in Kazakhstan, which produced more than 537,000 tons of oil at the end of last year, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported.
It is specified that in the first six months of 2023, 253 thousand tons of these products were produced, of which Kazakhstan exported 146.1 thousand tons. The growth compared to 2022 was 30%.
At the same time, imports decreased, 38.7 thousand tons of oil were imported into the country.
The export of sunflower oil last year amounted to 230 thousand tons, which is 1.7 times more than in 2021. Import last year did not exceed 100 thousand tons.
The Ministry of Agriculture noted that sunflower acreage is constantly expanding. So, in 2022, 1.09 million hectares were sown with this crop; - 66.7 thousand hectares more. At the end of last year, 1.3 million tons of sunflower were harvested (+164 thousand tons compared to 2021).
The Ministry of Agriculture recalled that the cost of sunflower oil in the domestic market is regulated in accordance with the Action Plan for Price Stabilization, which was signed in April this year. the Ministries of Agriculture, Trade and Integration and the National Association of Oilseed Processors.
According to statistics, in June compared to March this year. there was a decrease in the selling price for unrefined sunflower oil to 422.5 thousand tenge (in March - 513.4 thousand tenge) per ton, for refined - up to 631.6 thousand tenge (in March - 701.4 thousand tenge) per ton.
