Governor of the Altai Territory Viktor Tomenko spoke about the state of the fields, which was discussed at a meeting of the operational headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, which was held in Altai by Minister Dmitry Patrushev. In his Telegram channel, he said that the dead winter crops were resown with spring crops on an area of 45,000 hectares.

“Due to snowfalls, the sowing campaign began a couple of weeks later than usual, and crops were damaged due to the hot and dry beginning of the summer. This is not the first time we are faced with such a situation, so we quickly got our bearings,” he stressed.

According to Tomenko, the total area remained at the level of last year, which is 5.4 million hectares. The sowing areas of spring wheat, sunflower, soybeans and buckwheat were increased.

The head of the region also said that he had discussed other important issues with Patrushev: the development of investment projects, and support for milk producers, and grain interventions, which are expected to be carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture in the fall. There was also talk about the directions of sales of products.
