Wheat shipments from the Russian Federation for export from October 1 to October 20 decreased by 12.2%

Russia exported 3.48 million tons of wheat from October 1st to 20th, which is 12.2% less than the same period last year, according to the monitoring by the Russian Grain Union. Shipments of major grain crops decreased by 12.6%, reaching 3.84 million tons. Turkey and Egypt reduced their purchases, while Mexico's purchases increased.

From October 1 to October 20, Russia exported 3.48 million tons of wheat, which is 12.2% less than in the same period last year, according to the monitoring of the Russian Grain Union.

"The positive dynamics of exports, which were observed from the beginning of the season, changed to negative. From October 1 to October 20, the volume of shipments of the main types of grain crops amounted to 3 million 840 thousand tons, which is 12.6% less than a year earlier. The basis of exports was wheat ", Elena Tyurina, director of the union's analytical department, told Interfax.

According to her forecast, a total of about 5.1 million tons of wheat could be exported in October. “Last season, 5.4 million tons of wheat were shipped in October. This was the maximum figure for October in the last six years,” Tyurina recalled.

According to the union, the leading buyers of Russian wheat - Turkey and Egypt - reduced purchases in October. Thus, shipments to Turkey decreased by 40%, to 435 thousand tons, to Egypt - by 55%, to 424 thousand tons. In third place is Bangladesh, where 276 thousand tons of wheat were sent, which is 38% less than a year ago.

“The following lines of the rating are positive. 229 thousand tons were shipped to Pakistan; in October last year it was not among the buyers of Russian wheat. Shipments to Algeria, which is in fifth position, increased by 42%, to 188.5 thousand tons,” Tyurina reported, “136 thousand tons were sent to Yemen, which is 1.6 times more than last year, and 107 thousand tons were sent to Kenya, almost 1.7 times more.”

According to her, the upward trend in exports to Latin American countries continues. In particular, shipments to Mexico increased 1.7 times. The number of buyers also included a number of African countries that did not import Russian wheat in October last year. Thus, 38.5 thousand tons were shipped to Angola, 27.3 thousand tons to Morocco, and 18 thousand tons to Uganda.

Tyurina also reported that in October, grains and legumes were exported through 37 ports (48 ports a year ago). The number of exporting companies decreased to 35 from 102 in October last year.
