Altai continues to harvest corn for grain

The areas of corn cultivation for grain purposes in Altai Krai amount to nearly 15 thousand hectares in over 20 districts. Favorable weather conditions have allowed for a good harvest with an average yield of 60-90 quintals per hectare in some districts and 30-50 quintals per hectare in others. Corn grain is used for the production of cornmeal, livestock feed, and food purposes.

The area under corn for grain purposes in the region is almost 15 thousand hectares in more than 20 districts.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Altai Territory, favorable weather this season made it possible to grow a decent harvest of this late-ripening crop.

“According to operational data, as of October 25, corn was threshed from 2.6 thousand hectares. In a number of districts - Zonal, Mamontovsky, Pavlovsky and others - the yield is recorded at 60-90 centners per hectare, in the steppe - Khabarsky, Mikhailovsky - 30-50 centners per hectare,” the Ministry of Agriculture said.

The farm's corn grain is used in the preparation of corn paste and rolled grain for feed purposes in livestock farming. Grain is also sold for food purposes.
