Better weather in Argentina does not increase corn yields

The forecast for corn production in Argentina for the 2023/24 year has been reduced by 3%, with an expected harvest of 51.9 million tonnes from an area of 8.2 million hectares. The improvement in weather conditions in certain provinces did not compensate for the negative impact on crops in other areas, especially in the province of Cordova. The forecast for soybean production has also been lowered by 4%, with an expected harvest of 46.5 million tonnes from an area of 16.9 million hectares. The forecast for wheat production remains unchanged at 14.8 million tonnes.

Argentina's corn production forecast for 2023/24 was cut by analysts by 3% compared to the previous forecast. It is now expected that 51.9 million tons of corn will be harvested from an area of 8.2 million hectares.

Although weather conditions in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe and Entre Rios have recently improved, this has not fully offset the negative impact of difficult weather conditions on crops in other regions, especially in the province of Cordoba.

The forecast for soybean production in Argentina for 2023/24 was also reduced by experts by 4%. 46.5 million tons of soybeans are now expected to be harvested from 16.9 million hectares, up from 25 million tons the previous season.

The wheat production forecast for 2023/24 remained unchanged at 14.8 million tonnes, up 2.2 million tonnes from the previous year.
