In April, according to official statistics, the average price of wheat grain in the Kazakhstani market was 125,000 tenge per ton. Compared to the previous month, the price decreased by 0.2%, while compared to December 2023, it increased by 1.6%.
It was observed that the price index in April, compared to March, was 99.8%. However, when compared to December 2023, the price increased by 1.6%. A year ago, in April 2023, wheat was 2% more expensive. Over the past three years, the price of grain has significantly increased: in December 2020, it was 16.6% more expensive than in April of this year.
It is worth noting that the price from producers significantly differs from the average market price. In April, the average price from producers was 101,800 tenge per ton. The highest price was recorded in the Akmola region - 118,500 tenge, while in the Kostanay region, the price was slightly lower - 103,000 tenge per ton.
In the Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions, the price was 93,000 tenge. Regarding other crops, the price from producers is as follows: corn - 53,000 tenge, barley - 61,000 tenge, rice - 177,000 tenge, peas - 84,000 tenge, sunflower seeds - 130,500 tenge, safflower seeds - 59,000 tenge, flax seeds - 178,000 tenge, rapeseed - 179,000 tenge.
In the last month, the price of corn and barley slightly decreased - by 0.1% and 0.3% respectively. Prices for rye, oats, millet, rice, and lentils remained unchanged. With the onset of spring, a gradual increase in prices for low-quality grain is observed.
It is expected that prices will continue to rise. However, the price of bread-making wheat will remain stable, as processors are avoiding its increase. High-quality grain at low prices is available in Russia, so Kazakhstani enterprises have switched to Russian resources.
