Argentina needs additional rainfall to avoid large losses in wheat yields and to be able to complete early corn plantings after last week's downpours failed to improve the situation on too-dry farmland, experts at the Rosario Grain Exchange said.
It noted that the country's western agricultural areas still need significant rainfall to help restore soil moisture levels.
At the same time, the lack of rain may affect experts’ forecasts for wheat and corn production in Argentina in 2023/24 MY, which are announced at the level of 15 million tons and 56 million tons, respectively.
Much of Argentina's agricultural area, as well as northwestern Paraguay, is forecast to receive below normal rainfall in the coming days.
