According to preliminary data, on July 31, the Algerian state-owned company OAIC purchased 590 thousand tons of soft wheat of arbitrary origin at a tender. This is reported by the Grain On-Line agency with reference to the Reuters agency.
The purchase price is $276 per ton on a C&F basis.
According to traders, wheat is mainly of Black Sea origin (Russian, Romanian and Bulgarian). “I would bet that the purchase will be only from the Black Sea countries,” said one of the traders. "I don't think that Western European countries have a real chance of becoming a supplier, since the prices in the Black Sea region are so low."
According to some estimates, the volume of wheat purchased at the tender reaches 800 thousand tons.
According to the terms of the tender, the supply of wheat will take place over two periods: October 1-15 and October 16-31. When shipped from South America or Australia, the delivery time is shifted a month earlier.
