After yesterday’s meeting of the Security Council chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, it was officially reported that, among other things, issues related to the food security of Armenia were also discussed.”
As reported by Caliber.Az, the Armenian publication “Hraparak” writes about this.
The issue of food security, in particular grain shortages, is discussed with concern in official circles.
According to the publication, there are quite alarming statistics in this area. Thus, compared to last year, Armenia produced about 30 percent less wheat this year, which is due to cheap imports of wheat from Russia. At the same time, the state does not have a strategy and does not provide subsidies related to fuel and fertilizers, which became the reason to significantly reduce the number of cultivated fields,” the report says.
