The export potential of Russian grain, including legumes and flour, is 60.45 million tons in the current agricultural year (July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023). Igor Pavensky, head of the Rusagrotrans Analytical Center, cited such data during the XXV Grain Round Table Conference in Novosibirsk.

“The forecast for grain exports for the entire 2022/23 season is 57.9 million tons, and taking into account 1.55 million tons of legumes and 1 million tons of flour (in terms of grain), it will reach about 60.5 million tons,” — said in the presentation of the expert.

Speaking about current export figures, Pavensky noted that grain exports in July-April 2022/23 will amount to almost 50.8 million tons, which will be an absolute record for Russia. For an incomplete season, the Russian Federation exports more grain than for the entire last agricultural year, when 44.2 million tons were exported. It will also cover the indicators of the successful 2020/21 season, when 50 million tons of grain were exported.

Pavensky recalled that the pace of exports began to exceed the levels of previous seasons only in October 2022. February 2023 gave some decline, when due to storms and precipitation, the export did not exceed the record of 2020. Nevertheless, record deliveries continued in March and April.

Speaking separately about the export of wheat, Pavensky said that its export will amount to 42.3 million tons in April (since the beginning of the agricultural year), which is 10.9 million tons higher than a year ago. In general, for the entire agricultural year, exports will amount to 47 million tons or more, which will exceed the record of the 2017/18 season (42 million tons). By the end of the season, export rates will fall, but will remain at record monthly levels, the expert stressed.

According to analysts, Russia's share in the world wheat market, taking into account the export of wheat flour, will be about 23% by the end of the season (48 million tons out of 210 million tons).
