Decrease in corn imports in the European Union

Corn imports to the European Union have decreased by 43% to 9.03 million tonnes. Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands are the main importers. Ukraine (57% of total imports) and Brazil (30.7%) are the primary suppliers. Corn exports from the EU have increased by 139% to 2.1 million tonnes, with Romania leading the way.

Information from the European Commission indicates a decrease in corn imports to the European Union in the current season compared to the previous one. The total import volume is 9.03 million tons, which is 43% less than in the previous season (15.84 million tons). Spain, Italy and the Netherlands are the EU's largest corn importers, with purchase volumes of 3.95 million tonnes, 1.05 million tonnes and 1.04 million tonnes respectively.

Ukraine and Brazil are the main suppliers of corn to the European Union this season. Ukraine supplied 5.15 million tons of corn, accounting for 57% of total imports, and Brazil supplied 2.77 million tons, accounting for 30.7%.

On the other hand, EU corn exports in the current season increased by 139% and amounted to 2.1 million tons. Romania is the EU's largest corn exporter, with shipments of 1.39 million tonnes.
