The area under sunflower cultivation in the Krasnodar Territory continues to increase. In 2023, it amounted to more than 476 thousand hectares, which is 9.1% more than last year and 19.8% more than in 2021. This information is reported by the RBC Krasnodar news agency, citing the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Grain Quality Assessment Center".

The volume of area sown with sunflowers in Kuban continues to increase. In 2021, more than 397 thousand hectares were sown in this territory, and in 2022 this figure increased to more than 436 thousand hectares. In 2023, the sunflower planting area reached more than 476 thousand hectares. Thus, sunflower continues to remain an important crop for the Krasnodar region.

It is noted that in Kuban there continues to be a steady increase in the areas sown with domestic sunflower seeds. Among these varieties, Kuban 930, Alcantara and others should be highlighted. At the same time, Kushchevsky, Novopokrovsky and Kanevsky districts of the Krasnodar Territory are leaders in growing this popular solar crop.

According to the branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for Grain Quality Assessment" in Novorossiysk, in 2022, sunflower from the Krasnodar Territory was exported for food purposes to Spain and Turkey through the trade ports of the Black and Azov Seas, as well as by road. This indicates an increase in production and interest in Kuban sunflower at the international level.

Thus, the increase in the area sown with sunflower in the Krasnodar Territory indicates the significant potential of this crop in the region. Further development of this area could become an important factor for the economy and agriculture of the Krasnodar region.
