A contract has been signed to modernize irrigation systems for rice cultivation in Primorsky Krai. Investments totaling 22.8 billion rubles will increase rice production volume to 150,000 tons per year, create 160 new jobs, and double the rice cultivation area within 5-7 years.

The implementation of the project to modernize irrigation systems for rice cultivation will allow to increase the production volume of this crop to 150 thousand tons per year. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Prime Minister of the Primorsky Territory Vera Shcherbina, the General Director of CJSC "CRDV" Nikolay Zapryagaev, and the Deputy General Director for Corporate Development of LLC "GC Rusagro" Alexander Tarasov during the Eastern Economic Forum on September 5.

The development of rice growing is strategically important for the region, as it contributes to strengthening the agro-industrial complex and ensuring food security in Russia. A total of 22.8 billion rubles of investments have been attracted, with the creation of 160 new jobs planned.

As Vera Shcherbina noted, the implementation of investment projects to restore rice systems will allow to more than double the rice cultivation areas in Primorye within 5-7 years, reaching 32 thousand hectares.

The General Director of CJSC "CRDV" Nikolay Zapryagaev emphasized the importance of this project for the economic development of the region and noted that investors in the agro-industrial complex of the Far East are successfully implementing their projects with the support of the state.

“The Primorsky Territory has everything necessary for the development of rice growing: the availability of a working meliorative fund and competent personnel. Primorsky rice has always been known for its taste qualities. The implementation of this project will revive the industry in the region, increase the production volumes of high-quality products, and create new jobs, which will contribute to strengthening the economy of the Far East. We are confident that this cooperation will serve as an example of successful partnership between business and the government for the sustainable development of the region,” he noted.

The Deputy General Director for Corporate Development of LLC "GC Rusagro" Alexander Tarasov announced that currently, an active search for a site for the implementation of this project is underway, which will be a significant step in the development of the region's agriculture and ensuring stable rice supplies to the domestic market.
