In Lanzhou, one of the regions of Gansu in northwest China, an intermodal train "Railway – Sea" arrived, carrying 265 tons of sugar from India. This event was described on December 22 by IA Krasnaya Vesna, citing Xinhua agency.
The new international trade corridor "Land – Sea" turned out to be key for the delivery of raw sugar to Gansu from India for the first time. 10 containers with sugar worth $150,000 were processed and will be used in food ingredients. Lanzhou is the first national-level development zone in northwest China.
From January to November, 200 international freight trains arrived in or departed from the new region, which is 33.33% more than in the previous year during the same period. As a result, seven new international freight train routes were launched, connecting more than 20 countries and regions, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran, Laos, and India.
The essence of the new international trade corridor "Land – Sea," created in 2017, lies in being a trade and logistics corridor developed by the western provinces of China and ASEAN members.
