According to the information provided by the Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry of Malaysia, the country plans to actively use biomass, obtained during the production of palm oil, as the main raw material for biofuel production in the near future. This was announced in the source S&P Global Platts.
The Malaysian government intends to attract investments in the development of this industry, which is considered a high value-added industrial sector.
According to MPOB estimates, Malaysia produces over 18 million tons of palm oil annually, while obtaining about 90 million tons of solid biomass.
At the same time, liquid by-products generated during the production of palm oil, such as palm fatty acid distillate and wastewater, are already in high demand among biofuel producers, as the European Union regulations particularly incentivize the use of production waste in biodiesel production.
