In this review, agricultural expert Yuri Rizha analyzes the situation with sunflower seed trading in the Republic of Moldova during the period from 2020 to June 2024.
During the specified period, the country imported a total of 10,433 tons of goods from around the world, amounting to 2,948,656,348 lei.
The average price of imported sunflower seeds in this period was 325,909 lei.
Upon studying the import data, it can be noted that the import of sunflower seeds into the Republic of Moldova is carried out quite consistently and evenly from year to year. The main volume of imports falls on the first half of the year, and the current year is no exception.
During the study period, sunflower seeds were supplied to Moldova from 22 different countries, with 86% of the total import volume imported from Romania and France.
73% of the sunflower seeds were imported from Romania, and 12% from France.
During the specified period, 95 companies imported sunflower seeds into the country. Among them, the largest share in imports is held by SYNGENTA AGRO SRL, PIONEER HI-BRED SWITZELANDSA, and PIONEER HI-BREAD ROMANIA SRL, which account for 61% of the import volume.
In Moldova, 77 companies are involved in purchasing sunflower seeds. The most active company among them is VADALEX-AGRO SRL, which accounts for 21.64% of the total import. This company imported 2,257 tons of goods.
In conclusion of the analysis, it should be noted that the import of sunflower seeds into Moldova is carried out quite systematically and steadily throughout the year, without significant fluctuations in both the volume and the cost of this goods.
