The actual export of sunflower seeds and kernels from Kazakhstan for 9 months of the current 2022/23 MY (from September 2022 to May 2023) amounted to 254.6 thousand tons. This is 31 thousand tons more than the entire annual volume of the last season (MY 2021/22 - 223.7 thousand tons), the National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAPMC) told APK-Inform.

If the kernel is converted into sunflower seeds, then the total exported volume is 286 thousand tons.

“It is interesting that, according to customs data, the export of sunflower seeds continues, despite the imposed duty, i.e. for four months of this year. (from February to May 2023) about 47 thousand tons of sunflower seeds and kernels were exported,” the NAPMK noted.

Recall that on February 4, 2023, an order to introduce a duty on the export of sunflower seeds from Kazakhstan in the amount of 20%, but not less than 100 EUR/t, came into force. Earlier, starting from 2020, the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan applied sunflower export quotas.
