The company "EcoNiva" plans to significantly increase the areas allocated for growing organic buckwheat. According to the press release, the EcoNiva Group's subsidiary, "Savinskaya Niva," intends to increase the area for buckwheat cultivation this year to more than 140 hectares. This is almost three times more than the previous year.
The press release also notes that there is a growing demand for buckwheat from sports nutrition, bread, and porridge producers. This is due to the popularity of a healthy lifestyle. Valeriy Gushchin, the director of "Savinskaya Niva," emphasized that buckwheat is in high demand and is quoted in the press release.
Additionally, this year saw the first planting of oil flax on the farm. The oil flax harvest is planned to be sold to oil plants, and the cake will be used in feeding cows as it contributes to increased productivity and improved milk quality.
"Savinskaya Niva" started its operations in 2010 and transitioned from traditional farming to organic production from 2012 to 2015. Now all products produced here are certified according to European and Russian organic farming and animal husbandry standards, as noted in the press release.
The total area of agricultural land of "Savinskaya Niva" is 6 thousand hectares. Over 3 thousand hectares will be used for crops this year. The farm houses 270 dairy cattle and 460 beef cattle.
The EcoNiva Group manages assets in 13 Russian regions: Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Leningrad, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Ryazan, Samara, and Tyumen regions, as well as in the Altai Territory, Bashkortostan, and Tatarstan.
