Uzbekistan is increasing the sown area under soybeans. For the 2023 harvest, soybeans were sown on an area of 102.7 thousand hectares. This is 27% higher than last year's figure. The soybean harvest this year will amount to 142.7 thousand tons. It is planned to produce 24 thousand tons of soybean oil and 107 thousand tons of soybean meal.

Uzbekistan is increasing the area under soybeans. So, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, for the harvest of 2023, soybeans were sown in the open air by farms and agricultural enterprises on an area of 102.7 thousand hectares. This is 27% higher than last year.

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the soybean harvest this year will amount to 142.7 thousand tons. Of this volume, it is planned to produce 24 thousand tons of soybean oil and 107 thousand tons of soybean meal.

     “The expansion of sown areas and the increase in soybean products are important to fully meet the needs of the population in oil and fat products and the development of animal husbandry,” the report says.

Soybean is grown in Uzbekistan both as a main crop and as a secondary crop after winter cereals.

In 2022, 80.4 thousand hectares were sown on the main areas of soybeans in Uzbekistan.

A year earlier, soybeans were sown on an area of about 60 thousand hectares, the gross harvest in 2021 amounted to 66 thousand tons, of which 59 thousand tons were processed. Of this volume, 11 thousand tons of soybean oil and 45 thousand tons of meal were produced.

Uzbekistan ranks first in the purchase of Kazakh soybeans. Thus, according to official statistics, for 9 months of 2022/23 MY, Kazakhstan exported 27.44 thousand tons of soybeans to Uzbekistan, as well as 1.65 thousand tons of soybean oil and 4.35 thousand tons of soybean meal/cake.

During the same period last season, Uzbekistan imported from Kazakhstan 13.9 thousand tons of soybeans, 2.28 thousand tons of soybean oil and 1.73 thousand tons of soybean meal/cake.
