During the first eight months of 2024, the export of agricultural products from the Smolensk Region increased by 35%. The region's external trade turnover reached 800 million dollars. These achievements were made possible by active development in agriculture and increased investments in the industry. Over 1.5 billion rubles were allocated to support agriculture in 2024, which is 400 million more than the previous year.

The Smolensk Region has become the leader in the cultivation of flax crops in Russia. This year, 6.2 thousand hectares of this crop were planted, which is 44% more than last year. The areas planted with spring and winter rapeseed have increased by 40% and reached 26 thousand hectares.

The region's team, led by Governor Vasily Anokhin, presented the leading achievements of the Smolensk Region at the 26th All-Russian Agricultural Exhibition "Golden Autumn - 2024".

"Next year, we plan to create an educational and production cluster to strengthen the human resources. The cluster will bring together secondary vocational education institutions and eighteen agricultural enterprises to train industry specialists. The regional government is always ready to support our farmers, who achieve such results thanks to their hard work and entrepreneurial spirit," said the head of the region Vasily Anokhin.
