Forecast: Preliminary figures for the sunflower harvest in 2024 are already being compiled.

The forecast for sunflower harvest in 2024 is around 12.8 million tons. The uncertainty is caused by the difference between the planned sowing area and the expected volume. The export of seeds will decrease to 250 thousand tons, affecting prices. The impact will be felt on processing reserves, energy resources, and weather.

The forecast for the sunflower harvest of 2024 is a complex task, however, we can estimate its volume at around 12.8 million tons. This information was reported by the head of the "UkrOliyaProm" association - Stepan Kapshuk.

However, the research is complicated due to the difference between the planned area for sunflower cultivation, which ranges from 4.8 to 4.9 million hectares, and the expected volume of 5.2 million hectares. Accurate predictions will only be possible after the first data from the regions, which will help determine the yield," explains Stepan Kapshuk.

According to Mr. Kapshuk, the volume of sunflower seed exports will fluctuate within 250 thousand tons, which will inevitably affect the price segment. Competition for sunflower plantings will increase as there is insufficient raw material for processing.

"A more profitable option would be to export sunflower seeds immediately after processing, but currently, we have the capacity to process 18-19 million tons of oilseeds, and therefore the shortage of raw materials. The export will also be influenced by the situation with energy resources and the current winter, which can significantly affect overall productivity," emphasizes Stepan Kapshuk.
