Bashkortostan this year has become one of the leading regions in soybean cultivation, experts emphasized at a seminar held in the Aurgazinsky district. The event was dedicated to soybean and corn breeding. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Bashkortostan, currently, 19 thousand hectares are allocated for soy in the region.
"In theory, we can increase the soybean area to 100-120 thousand hectares. This is a very profitable crop, engaging in which helps increase farm incomes. It is necessary to expand the share of such crops in order to manage risks and not depend on grain prices," commented the acting Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Agriculture Ilshat Fazrakhmanov. "The climate is changing - crop composition is changing. Land is our main resource, and it must work efficiently."
Experts reported that soybean prices currently range from 36 to 40 rubles per 1 kg in the Central Chernozem region. Considering the harvest that farms in Bashkortostan will achieve this year, soybean can become one of the most profitable crops, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Bashkortostan press service.
As reported by Bashinform, soybean was first tested in the fields of the Pre-Urals and Trans-Urals in 2018. A year earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture set a course for high-yielding protein and oil crops. In addition to soy, lentils, chickpeas, flax, rapeseed, fodder beans, and crambe were also tested.
