A WAREHOUSE that connects the supply chain and the distribution network. R.Ts. (unlike a conventional warehouse) usually performs the functions of short-term storage close to the sales or distribution channel. R.Ts. takes over a significant part of the operations in the supply chain, optimizing costs due to mass character. On R.Ts. usually FINISHED PRODUCTS (goods) and/or SPARE PARTS are stored. Some technological operations, for example, those related to INDIVIDUALIZATION AND CUSTOMIZATION OF PRODUCTS, are more convenient and cheaper to perform not at the factory, but in the R.C. Such operations are usually called part-time work (co-manufacturing) and form an additional added value (to the main logistics operations). These include PACKAGING (for example, food products), ASSEMBLY (for example, furniture, computers), PACKAGING, SORTING, etc.
